The “Skills for Salisbury” Program in South Australia is one of many examples of community education in Australia. Participants from different backgrounds are looking to improve their life through jobs, and the Program helps them to get hands on learning experiences.
Many of the participants say the Program helps them build their self esteem and confidence. The Program serves both participants from a non-English speaking background and learners who are native English speakers. Improving your foundation skills can be useful if you want to go after a new career opportunity. Informal training in your community center is often the best solution for learners with family responsibilities. And it’s always a welcoming environment where you can rely on professional and accessible teachers from your own community.
In this documentary, you will get to know a few ACE participants in The Skills for Salisbury Foundation Skills Program.
